Shanghai Tower
The Shanghai Tower is a skyscraper under construction in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai. It was designed by the U.S firm, Gensler.The steel structure will rise to 632 meters wrapped around a 565.6 meters tall central concrete core. In total it will have 127 stories, a total internal area of 558,806 square meters, including an interior space which will be given over to offices, a luxury hotel and retail.Its tapered, spiral form is a research-based response to high winds in the region, while creating a new icon for this capital of commerce. The construction has started in 2008 and is estimated to be completed in 2014. The Shanghai tower costs an estimated $2.4 bn ( £1.6 bn).
